Privacy and cookies

This page explains how Green Dogs handles your personal information and how this website uses cookies. It is written in plain English, and it applies to this website and to enquiries made through it.

Who is responsible. Green Dogs, a dog behaviour and training business based in Canterbury, Kent, is the data controller for the information described here. Contact: greendogs101@gmail.com or 07702 601900.

What is collected. If you get in touch by email or phone, Green Dogs receives the details you choose to share. The consultation form collects your name, email address, optional phone number and rough location, together with what you tell us about your dog, including behaviour, health and safety-related information. Clients who are asked to complete the onboarding form provide fuller details about their household, their dog's history, health, daily life and behaviour, and an optional photo. Form submissions are sent by email to Green Dogs and are not stored in this website's database.

Why, and the lawful basis. Your details are used to reply to your enquiry, to assess how best to help you and your dog, and, if you become a client, to plan and deliver your dog's support (UK GDPR lawful bases: taking steps at your request before entering a contract, performance of that contract, and legitimate interests in running the business). Information about your dog's health or incidents is used only to plan support safely. Your information is never sold, and it is not shared with third parties for their marketing, and you are not added to mailing lists you did not ask for.

Who processes it. Like most websites, this site relies on a small number of service providers: the hosting company that serves these pages, the email service that delivers form submissions and correspondence, and Google Fonts, which means your browser requests font files from Google when a page loads. These providers process data on our behalf or as described in their own privacy notices.

How long it is kept. Enquiries that do not lead to work together are deleted within a reasonable period, and client records are kept for as long as needed to support you and your dog and to meet legal and insurance obligations, then deleted.

Cookies. This site currently uses only essential cookies and similar browser storage: a setting that remembers your cookie choice, and short-lived storage that saves your form answers on your own device so an accidental refresh does not wipe them. Analytics cookies and embedded content from other providers, such as maps or videos, may be added in future; these can set their own cookies and will only run if you choose Accept on the cookie banner. If you choose Decline, only essential cookies are used. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which will show the banner again.

Your rights. Under UK data protection law you can ask what information is held about you, and ask for it to be corrected, deleted or no longer used. Email greendogs101@gmail.com and it will be sorted. If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
