One-to-one training

Everyday skills, taught kindly, one dog at a time.

Training with me is personal. No group classes to keep up with, no shouting, no gadgets; just you, your dog and practical sessions built around your real life.

Training is more about your everyday things: jumping up, recall, all those kinds of behaviours, and they can have deeper underlying emotional roots. I look at all of that too and try to identify if there's something else causing the behaviour. I'll teach you how your dog learns, because every dog is an individual, so any training you come to me with won't follow a template plan, it will be built around your individual dog. We're not looking to suppress or dampen these behaviours, we're looking to teach alternatives and find out what's really driving the issue.

What we cover

What we can work on

These are the things people ask me about most, and they are all very trainable with the right approach:

  • Loose-lead walking, so walks feel like time together rather than a tug of war.
  • Recall you can rely on, built on your dog genuinely wanting to come back.
  • Jumping up, greeting people politely with four paws on the floor.
  • Settling, learning to switch off at home, in the pub or wherever life takes you.
  • Everyday manners, the small habits that make a dog easy to live with.

Quite often, something that looks like a training problem has a feeling underneath it. A dog who pulls, jumps up or cannot settle may be anxious, uncomfortable or simply finding the world a bit much, so I always look for the cause rather than drilling the surface behaviour. Once your dog feels better about what is going on, the training itself usually comes far more easily.

I teach with rewards, patience and an honest understanding of how dogs actually learn. Sessions move at your dog's pace, and you will always know exactly what to practise between them.

What it costs

What one-to-one training costs.

Most people book a block of four sessions, because training settles in over weeks. If a block is more than you need, you are very welcome to book a single session at a time.
